About me and my practice
I am an experienced and qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and I work with adults over 18. I offer a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space for you to talk through your difficulties. I believe everyone has the right to feel heard and I aim to work alongside you and empower you to be the version of yourself you want to be. I believe that by developing a secure therapeutic relationship, we can work together to understand and address some of your difficulties in order for you to feel more confident, gain self-awareness and feel more able to cope.
Experience
Some areas I have experience working with include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, trauma, perinatal mental health, grief and more. I have also worked with people who have lost their sense of self or direction in life or those who feel stuck, lonely or unsatisfied with how their life is moving forward. Whatever it is that you may be struggling with, I can offer a safe space in which we can talk through, process and understand what may be going on for you.
I also have further training and experience working with people who are autistic or ADHD. You may have a diagnosis, are self-diagnosed, or you may be in the process of exploring this and would like a space to reflect on it further and how it impacts you. I can offer a non-judgmental and accepting space to explore and reflect on this.
Qualifications
I have been practising as a psychotherapeutic counsellor since 2018 and I am a fully registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that I am accountable for the work I do and have to ensure that I meet their requirements for working ethically and safely.
I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and a post-graduate diploma in psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counselling. I have a background working in community mental health, as a counsellor at an established clinic in Brighton and within the NHS.
BA Hons - Psychology and Criminology
CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
PGDip Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling
Further CPD training includes:
Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression
CBT with Heart
Working with Autism in the Therapy Room
Understanding Autism and ADHD - University of Derby
Additional Information
The way in which I work is rooted within the psychodynamic approach, which means that I believe that our past has an impact on our present, including unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours that we may not be aware of. I also have further training in CBT skills and Person-Centred counselling. This means I will work alongside you, at your own pace and in a way that you feel is right for you, to help you uncover the root of your difficulties, develop tools and a sense of self awareness and help you to understand yourself with compassion and acceptance.
